EastEnders' Jake Wood Reveals "Spectacular" Anniversary Scenes

EastEnders' Jake Wood promises "spectacular" scenes to celebrate the soaps 35th anniversary

EastEnders will celebrating 35 years on British television in February next year, and actor Jake Wood has revealed that the anniversary episodes will be "spectacular".

As well as Christmas and New Year, EastEnders like to mark the occasion with something big, but what's coming in 2020?

Speaking to Digital Spy, Jake revealed: "We've obviously got Christmas coming up – and the 35th anniversary early next year. I think the fans will be delighted by that. It'll be some of the best stuff that we'll ever get a chance to shoot.

"I've seen some of the scripts coming up and they're amazing. The show is in a very strong place at the moment and I'm really proud to be part of it."

Jake also revealed that the whole of 2020 is going to be exciting for fans of the soap: "I think we're in a strong position at the moment. I think it's going to be an amazing year ahead. The show is going from strength to strength and I'm excited for the fans to see what we've got coming up."

Jake also paid tribute to new show bosses Kate and Jon: "Kate has really turned the show around, as we saw with Tamzin's departure as Mel. That was spectacular.

"The show is feeling really epic at the moment and they're raising the game with the way that they shoot it. In my time, it's probably the strongest that I've known the show – and a big part of that is down to Kate and Jon."

EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
